- Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl and mix well
- Roughly chop the bittersweet chocolate
- If serving for yourself: Combine the chocolate with the dry ingredients. Store in an airtight container. To make the hot chocolate add 1/2 cup of mix to 1 cup of hot water or milk and stir well. Add mini marshmallows, cinnamon, or your favorite crushed candy.
- If serving as a gift: Place a 1/2 cup of the dry ingredients into small cellophane bags. Add a layer of chopped chocolate. Add a layer of marshmallows. Add a layer of your favorite candy (m&ms, crushed peppermint, toffee bits, etc.) Tie up the cellophane bag with festive ribbon and place in a holiday mug. Write out a set of directions (see step 3) on how to make the hot cocoa on a small piece of paper and tie it to the handle of the mug.

We love taking our hot cocoa with us while looking at Christmas lights, drinking it while wrapping presents and listening to Christmas music, or watching the Polar Express and dancing with our hot cocoa during the Hot Chocolate Song.
